Skip the Rulebook is a small hobby site. This is what an account stores and why.

Your email

We don't keep your email address. We store a one-way, keyed fingerprint of it, so we can find your account when you type your email in, but nobody (including us) can read your address back out of the database. That's why we can only email you at the moment you ask for something: confirming your account or resetting your password. We never send newsletters or notifications.

Your password

Stored only as a slow, salted hash (scrypt). We can't see it.

What others can see

Your username, when you joined, your favourite games, your comments and posts, and the games you own (you can hide owned games in your account settings). Game requests and corrections are seen only by the site's admin.

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

Pictures

Pictures you post are resized in your browser before upload, which also removes hidden data such as GPS location.

Deleting your account

From your account page, at any time. It removes your account, favourites, owned games, comments, posts and pictures. Game requests you sent stay with the admin without your name.

Age

You must be 13 or older to create an account.
